Eboard Nominations for 2025/2026 were held at the November 21st General Membership Meeting. All positions ran unopposed and were elected by acclamation. After the election, Fikret Velic was appointed by the board to serve the remainder of the Vice President’s term. There is one open position on the board that we want to fill at the Eboard Meeting on December 15th. If you are interested, email the Eboard for a zoom link to that meeting. Thank you to all our past board members and welcome to those who are new!

Eboard Elections – November 21, 2025

Eboard Elections are right around the corner! Now is the time to start thinking about if you want to be on the board and help inform the decisions of our Union for 2026. The elections will be held at the November 21st General Membership Meeting on Zoom (NOTE: Date was changed from November 14th to November 21st).

What are the open positions?

  • President (2 year term)
  • Treasurer (2 year term)
  • Page-at-Large (1 year term – 2 positions)
  • LTA-at-Large (1 year term – 2 positions)
  • PSA-at-Large (1 year term)
  • Librarian-at-Large (1 year term)
  • Maintenance-at-Large (1 year term)
  • All other classifications-at-Large (1 year term)
  • Trustee (3 year term – not an Executive Board position)

What is the time/work commitment?

Eboard members are expected to attend the monthly Eboard/General Membership Meetings, participate in meeting discussions, and vote on topics brought before the board. There can be committee work and other projects. All Eboard members must be in good standing with our Union. For more information on the positions, look at the Get Involved page on our website.

October is Leave Bank Donation Month

Victoria

Each year we accept donations to the Union Leave Bank during April and October. We are currently accepting donations and will continue to accept donations until the end of October. The Donation Form is available on the Resources for Stewards page and is linked below. It can either be emailed to the email address on the form or mailed to our PO Box. Either way, it needs to be postmarked or sent before midnight on October 31st.

Union Leave Bank Transfer Form

The Union Leave Bank hours are used by the Eboard or appointees to attend bargaining sessions, investigations, and other joint Union/KCLS activities that fall outside of regular work hours and/or that are not eligible to be done on work time. Thank you for considering donating!

Had your eye on this summer’s Book Bingo program? Employees are not eligible for the finishers’ tote bag drawing, so Local 1857-Main and 1857-S are collaborating to have a union member prize drawing for tote bags designed by Marlowe, the Book Bingo artist this year. Watch for details in the Union Missive and get reading!
