eBoard Nominations at the November 1st General Membership Meeting

Nominations will be held at the November 1st General Membership Meeting for the eboard positions that are up for election. All eight At-Large positions are annual and are up for election. The additional positions that are up for election are Vice President (2 year term), Secretary (2 year term), and Trustee (3 year term).

Check out the descriptions of each position here http://kclsvoice.org/participation-opportunities

I encourage anyone who is interested to reach out and ask the existing eboard members questions. This is the way to become more involved in management of our union. Participation is what makes our union strong!

If you want to have your name be nominated for a position, you can email Jennifer (jenniferaudio@gmail.com) or Victoria (local1857president@gmail.com), or attend the meeting and indicate your interest there.

Leave Bank Donations Request

Leave Bank Form can be found here: https://kclsvoice.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Union-Leave-Bank-transfer-form-2024.pdf
We are now accepting donations to the Union Donated Leave Bank for the remainder of October. A new copy of the form is available on the website. It’s mostly the same, but there is now an option for emailing the form! Physical mail is also still allowed. The leave bank is a pool of donated vacation hours that can be used by Union officials, Shop Stewards, and other authorized members to attend disciplinary meetings, meet with library officials on Union business, and to prepare for and attend contract negotiations. The leave bank is open for donations in April and October of every year per our contract.

Standing Together

This month, Brave Books used meeting rooms in BE and BU to host anti-LGBTQ+ programs as part of a nationwide event. While the group does not align with KCLS values, the requests did fit within the meeting room use policy, and were allowed to occur.  KCLS administration tried to support the staff in those buildings, as did our Union.  With the help of Rai Yiannakos, our former president and current member of 1857S, we were able to contract with a local artist to produce buttons for staff at these buildings to wear to demonstrate our support of the LGBTQ+ community.  We are so grateful to Edward C for these amazing creations!  To see more of his work, take a look at his professional Instagram @transghostart.  We are proud to support our LGBTQ+ staff and community members.
