Bingo!
Had your eye on this summer’s Book Bingo program? Employees are not eligible for the finishers’ tote bag drawing, so Local 1857-Main and 1857-S are collaborating to have a union member prize drawing for tote bags designed by Marlowe, the Book Bingo artist this year. Watch for details in the Union Missive and get reading!
Safety Starts with You
Local 1857 is looking for members to represent our interests on two committees: the Safety Committee and the Security Committee. The Safety Committee needs a member of 1857-Facilities, the Security Committee needs a member of any of the 1857 groups. This is a big contributor to keeping your union siblings safe in the workplace! Please contact a member of Union leadership if you are interested in serving on these committees.
Bite-Sized Board Position
We need to fill an interim board position, representing “all other classifications”. (We have other positions covering pages, LTAs, PSAs, Librarians, and Facilities.) The position would be now through the Board elections in November. It’s a great way to get a sense of a Board position with short commitment. Ideally, we’d like someone in one of the “all other” jobs, but will take other positions if needed. Please contact the President, Vice President, or eBoard if you’re interested.
Golf for a Cause
Every year, the Council 2 Golf Tournament raises money for scholarships for union members and their families. Local 1857 sponsors a hole each year to support it. This year, we are also sponsoring the entry fee for some members to play! If you’re a golfer and would like to attend the tournament, before you register please contact your eBoard by the end of July!
