Support Union Work with the Leave Bank

The many hours our union puts in to negotiate our contract, bring concerns to management, and speak up on our behalf all happens with the help of the Union Leave Bank. It helps get work done after work hours and to do union work that can’t be done on KCLS work time. That Leave Bank is powered by YOU!

April and October are the two months out of the year that we are allowed to receive leave bank donations from union members. We are currently accepting donations and will continue to accept donations until the end of April using the form linked below. It can either be emailed to the address on the form or mailed to our PO Box. Either way, it needs to be postmarked or sent before May. Thank you for considering a donation!

You Deserve a Break

Happy New Year and Happy New Contract! One of the changes brought with our new contract is that 7 hour shifts now come with two 15 minute rest breaks. The details are in article 8.10 of our contract, which you can read on this website or on the KCLS Intranet.

Help Your Union Help You!

Please take the time to respond to the Union Access Survey that was linked in the Union missive on January 6th, and tell your coworkers about it. Not only will it help your union be responsive to your needs, five people will win of the cute new union pins! Be sure you respond by January 28th at 11:45pm.

Apply for union scholarships!

If you or a dependent are planning on furthering your education, don’t miss out on applying for union scholarships! Both Council 2 and AFSCME offer multiple awards each year, and deadlines are approaching. If you’ve ever attended the Money Maze scholarship programs through the library, you’ll know that union and workplace scholarships are hidden gems, and many KCLS families have reaped the benefits.
